The challenge: the guilt trap of digital fatigue.

Digital-fatigue advertising is usually full of detox language and guilt: spend less time on your screen, switch off, be more present. But preaching to people feels fundamentally wrong for a brand whose core mission is to make everyday life better. IKEA doesn’t need to tell people they are living badly or join the chorus of modern tech-shaming.

The concept: what home feels like.

Instead of fighting the phone, the campaign turns the problem around. What if IKEA didn’t battle technology at all, but simply reminded people what home feels like when nobody is performing for a screen?

The campaign never mentions technology – not in the headlines, not in the visuals, and not as a direct comparison. Instead, it focuses entirely on the small, unscripted moments that make you forget to check your phone in the first place: a dinner stretching hours longer than planned, collapsing into a sofa after a long day, or sitting in quiet comfort without needing a reason.

Don’t tell people to put the phone down. Give them something worth forgetting it for.

Art direction: unfiltered intimacy.

The imagery rejects staged lifestyle fantasy in favor of real warmth. Built around deep ambient shadows, warm lamp light, subtle film grain, and lived-in imperfections, the composition treats IKEA products as organic background elements of a real home rather than pristine hero props.

The concept was developed from initial hand sketches through AI-assisted visual explorations using Google Stitch and Krea, before being structured into a complete modular layout and channel adaptation system in Figma.

The proof: one insight, every channel.

Because this was a spec project, the test wasn’t client approval or campaign metrics. It was whether one insight could hold up across a whole campaign system – key visual, modular layouts, channel adaptations and a copy system – without a single line telling anyone to put their phone down.
